Department of Health and Human Resources

Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides health care and social services to those in need. It offers a wide range of programs, from MaineCare health insurance, child support payments, and more.

Eastern Agency on Aging

It is the mission of Eastern Area Agency on Aging to provide older adults, caregivers and adults with disabilities in Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis and Washington counties in Maine with the information and access to resources they need to be healthy, engaged and supported in their communities.

Maine Association of Retirees (MAR)

MARS works for you and we need your voice! We are finding that in today’s world many retirees do not know where to turn for information.  MAR’s purpose is to be a resource and represent the interests of Maine public service retirees. All the Board of Directors are MAR members who understand the issues facing retirees who are diligently working on your behalf.  When you contact us, a real person answers the phone. MAR works for you and we need your voice!

Maine’s Aging & Disability Resource Centers are found statewide. In addition, the centers are designed as the main access point for information and assistance for older and disabled adults. As a result, callers get information on benefits and care options and are connected with services.

We believe in a Maine where we can live healthy, engaged, and secure lives with choices and opportunities as we age in our homes and communities.  Also, this vision intentionally includes diverse older people who have experienced historical bias and injustice. Millinocket Memorial Library The mission of the Millinocket Memorial Library is to enrich lives, inspire imaginations, and empower community. (MML) is a public library in Millinocket, Maine. Open 6 days per week (hours vary by season), we offer copy/fax services, free Wifi, public computers, meeting rooms, and programs for all ages.

Thrive Penobscot

Thrive Penobscot is made up of representatives from in-home service agencies, hospitals, churches, food pantries, health providers, and community groups. These groups provide services for those who choose to stay in their own homes as they age, as well as those living with disabilities and chronic illness.

Thrive Penobscot, is investing in the well-being of those living in the Katahdin and Lincoln Lakes region. Also, we are addressing some of the most pressing issues and needs facing older people and those living with chronic disease. The goal is to link people to senior resource links to live longer in a place they call home.
